Kipling’s Poems – by date

1878 to 1940

This table shows the order in which Kipling’s poems appeared over the years.  For published poems we have used publication dates where they are known.  Where a poem has appeared in a journal we have usually shown the month rather than the precise date. For unpublished poems we have shown the source.  As explained in our notes on individual poems, these include sundry manuscripts now in libraries and collections, including Kipling’s notebooks.  Sometimes he dated a poem when it was completed, sometimes not.  For guidance we have relied on Thomas Pinney. David Alan Richards,  and Andrew Rutherford.  There are also many uncomplete  verses and poetic fragments which we have not covered.  These are to be found in the third volume of the Cambridge Edition of Kipling’s poems edited by Thomas Pinney (2913).

This table is in date order.
