Then he sang at the top of his voice:—

This is from “Brugglesmith” in Many Inventions.

The story of an all-nighter across London, our hero apparently sober and his acquired companion very much the opposite. The adventure begins with the men contesting control of a dinghy in the Thames and ends with the definitely drunker of the two fighting in the street with a bell-pull. One of RK’s great farces.
