This table lists Kipling’s published and unpublished poems by date order of first publication. For poems that were not published by Kipling, and recovered from his Notebooks by Andrew Rutherford in “Early Verse by Rudyard Kipling” (Oxford 1986), we have drawn on Rutherford’s judgment of when a poem was in its final form, or on further research by Professor Tom Pinney in the Cambridge Edition. See our detailed notes on each poem.
For the publishing dates, we have generally relied on the 2010 Bibliography by David Alan Richards, together with the Cambridge Edition of The Poetry of Rudyard Kipling edited by Thomas Pinney, published in 2013.
