"Go stalk the red deer"

(notes edited by John McGivering)

the poem

Published in Plain Tales from the Hills as a heading to "Pig" page 222. Also collected in Inclusive Verse, Definitive Verse and The Works of Rudyard Kipling (Wordsworth Poerty Library).

It expresses the theme of the story in which a man wreaks protracted revenge on a colleague who had sold him a particularly dreadful horse, and laughed about it afterwards.
